FAQ

Accessory package PAD+ & SIP+

The PAD+ and SIP+ are together available as an accessory package for the iZi Flex S FIX and can be purchased at BeSafe retailers.

When children are buckled up with the vehicle seat belt, they often feel that the shoulder belt is ‘uncomfortable’, leading to a risk of positioning the shoulder belt incorrectly to avoid discomfort, e.g. by placing it underneath their arm. To avoid this risk of misuse and to increase comfort, the PAD+ softens the edge of the vehicle seat belt, padding it. Additionally, it also actively increases safety by acting as a cushioning bumper between the child’s chin and chest.

This new generation of SIP+ has a newly designed fitting mechanism that makes attaching and detaching the SIP+ easier.

The additional side impact protection SIP+ can be placed onto the side of the iZi Flex FIX i-Size facing the vehicle door to further enhance the side impact protection, yet the iZi Flex FIX i-Size has already passed the demanding crash test criteria of the UN R129-02 regulation without the SIP+. Its main function is to reduce the distance between the seat and the vehicle door, thereby enabling an earlier contact in a side impact that leads to less movement.

Baby Mirror XL²

The Baby Mirror XL 2.0 differs in 4 aspects: 1. it has a more premium and elegant design and 2. an improved clamp on the remote. 3. Its lights automatically turn off after 2 minutes to save battery life and 4. it has a more convex-shaped mirror surface.

This accessory has been crash-tested at a renowned test institute in a frontal impact at 64 km/h.

This product requires 3x AA and 2x AAA batteries. These are not included when purchasing the product.

Yes, with its two installation straps, you can tightly install this accessory around different vehicle headrest shapes.

Belt Guard

To get UN R129-approved, the Belt Guard has to comply with strict specifications regarding size, functionality as well as ease of opening. And of course, as a product like the Belt Guard can only be approved as part of a child car seat approval, it has to pass the UN R129 crash tests.

If needed, the Belt Guard can also be opened by an adult if the internal harness is still closed and tightened. For this, you would have to push the shoulder belts closer together, so that there is less tension on the Belt Guard. Then, you could rotate the right side upwards slightly and the left side downwards and then pull the two parts apart.

In the ECE R44-04 regulation, which is older than UN R129, no approval mechanisms for such products were provided.

The Belt Guard has been crash-tested as part of the UN R129 approval, meaning in a frontal impact test at 50 km/h. In addition, we have done our own crash-testing on the Belt Guard in the same way as we have done it on our other accessories: in a frontal impact at 70 km/h.

The Belt Guard is only to be opened when the internal harness is not tightened or if the belts are unbuckled. When doing so, the Belt Guard typically automatically slides open. If it does not, you can easily rotate the right side upwards slightly and the left side a downwards and then pull the two parts apart.

On the BeSafe toddler seats you will find Velcro under the shoulder pads. Open the bottom of that Velcro and place each part of the Belt Guard between the Velcros of the shoulder pads. For the right angle, make sure that the shape of the Velcros on the Belt Guard parts follow the shape of the Velcro stripes on the shoulder pads. Align the Belt Guard with the bottom of the shoulder pads. After attaching the Belt Guard parts, make sure to close the Velcro strips of the shoulder pads firmly.

No, the BeSafe Belt Guard is only to be used with BeSafe toddler seats.

Besafe IZI Flex FIX I-size

The BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size is certified with and without the usage of the ISOfix anchorage. If available, it’s always better to use the ISOfix anchorage since it secures the seat better when there is no child in the seat (and the vehicle belt is not used to secure the seat without child). The safety performance is almost the same with or without the usage of the ISOfix anchorage.

iZi Flex S FIX is a slightly scaled down version of the premium iZi Flex FIX i-Size that was launched in March 2018. iZi Flex FIX i-Size has 4 features that iZi Flex S FIX does not have: the SIP+, PAD+, adjustable recline positions and the lapbelt guider. All other aspects, e.g. the space-adjustability or the seat dimensions, are identical between both seats.

Yes, the PAD+ is a part of the safety system of this booster seat and should always be used as an ‘integrated’ part of the BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size.

Yes, in order to be able to facilitate several seats or people next to each other in a vehicle, the SIP bumpers of iZi Flex FIX i-Size can be detached. However, we recommend you to always keep the outer SIP bumper facing the vehicle door attached when having iZi Flex FIX i-Size installed on an outer vehicle seat position for an optimal safety performance. In addition, we recommend you to also attach the SIP+ onto the SIP bumper facing the vehicle door if there is space available for additional side impact protection.

Yes, the lapbelt guider of the iZi Flex FIX i-Size is made of soft material and can be folded away when the child gets in and out of the seat.

When children are buckled up with the vehicle seat belt, they often feel that the shoulder belt is ‘uncomfortable’, leading to a risk of positioning the shoulder belt incorrectly to avoid discomfort, e.g. by placing it underneath their arm. To avoid this risk of misuse and to increase comfort, the PAD+ of the iZi Flex FIX i-Size softens the edge of the vehicle seat belt, padding it. Additionally, it also actively increases safety by acting as a cushioning bumper between the child’s chin and chest.

In a high back booster seat, the forces of the child are distributed to the vehicle through the vehicle belt in an impact, as the child is held by the vehicle belt. If a high back booster seat is installed with ISOfix, the ISOfix anchorages help keeping the seat itself in place in an impact but do not have to hold the child’s forces.

In contrast, ISOfix installed child car seats with an internal harness (where the child is secured with the seat’s own harness, not with the vehicle belt) always have a weight limitation, as the forces of both the child and the seat are distributed to the vehicle through the ISOfix anchorages only.

In the UN R129 regulation, the classification has changed from kilograms to centimetres, since parents often know more accurately how tall their child is. This makes it easier to choose the right (and safest) seat.

The recline position of iZi Flex FIX i-Size is designed to help your child lean back when sleeping in the car and thereby remain safely within the seat’s protection area and keeping the vehicle belt in the correct position.

Therefore, we recommend you to use iZi Flex FIX i-Size in its upright position when your child is awake but to use the seat’s recline position when your child starts getting sleepy.

The reclining position can be operated with the reclining handles on both sides of the seat. Do make sure to always pull the seat belt tight after changing from one position to the other to avoid slack in the belt.

When installing an iZi Flex FIX i-Size on an outer vehicle seat, you can take the inner SIP bumper off in order to be able to fit several seats/people next to each other. When installing an iZi Flex FIX i-Size in the middle position in the vehicle, both SIP bumpers can be taken off if you would like to place other seats/people next to the iZi Flex FIX i-Size on both sides. When installing an iZi Flex FIX i-Size in the middle position in the vehicle but are only placing another seat/person next to it on one side, we recommend you to keep the other SIP bumper on the iZi Flex FIX i-Size.

The BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size has no carlist, since this is not required according UN R129-02 and there are hardly any limitations to use iZi Flex FIX i-Size in vehicles.

As mentioned in the user manual there can be a limitation in the highest position of the headrest when the seat is used in the rear vehicle seats at the side because of the low roof in some vehicles. In these situations the seat can’t be used to the total height of 150 cm. This can sometimes be the case for sporty vehicles but rarely for family cars. We recommend you to always try out a seat before purchase to see if it fits to your specific situation.

In some vehicles it might not be possible to use the SIP+ due to lack of space at the door side of the seat, then it’s fine to use the seat without SIP+.

The iZi Flex FIX i-Size is approved in UN R129-02 without any additional SIP+ or SIP bumpers (at the inside of the vehicle). The SIP bumpers and the SIP+ improve the side impact performance and should always be used at the door side of the vehicle. Only when a third CRS is used in the middle position of the vehicle, may the SIP bumper be taken off, but only at the inside of the vehicle and not at the doorside.

The possibility to install three iZi Flex FIX i-Size seats in a row depends mainly on the car, and where the ISOfix anchorages are mounted in the seat of the car. If possible, use ISOfix for all three of the seats; this is normally only feasible in a vehicle with three seperate vehicle seats in the second row. If there is less space, or if there are only two ISOfix anchorages placed a bit out of line, you can use the BeSafe iZi Flex i-Size seats in combination with the vehicle belts only.

The PAD+ should always be positioned around the vehicle’s belt between the chest and the chin of the child. This gives the best safety performance.

In BeSafe, we always look for the best solutions and we design our car seats for real life situations – not only for pre-defined tests in a laboratory. Our experiences and tests have shown that the SIPs and the SIP+ gives the child improved safety, because they significally reduce the load on the child if a side impact should occur. Although the BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size is approved without them, you should always aim for the best safety for yourself and for your child. Therefore, we recommend that you always use the removable SIPs and SIP+ on the iZi Flex FIX i-Size towards the car door, as long as there is space available.

The iZi Flex FIX i-Size offers generous possibilities for adjustments, to fit children from 100 to 150 cm in height. The booster seat is also easily adjusted to the child’s height by use of one of the handles – there is one handle on each side so you can adjust it from any side. This can be done with the child sitting in the seat, so you can adjust it accurately and quickly. The headrest should be adjusted so the vehicle seat belt is guided 90 degrees through the shoulder belt guiders, over the child’s shoulders. You can also adjust the reclining feature of the iZi Flex FIX i-Size for a perfect sitting position – this must be done before you put on the seat belt, in order to avoid slack in the seat belt. The seat belt should be tightened properly, and the lap belt guider will put the seat belt in the right position over the child’s body.

The lapbelt guider is optional to use as it only indirectly impacts the child’s safety. A child who is correctly placed in the seat travels safely with or without using it. However BeSafe’s recommendation is to always use it as we always recommend to use all precautions to minimize any safety risks.

BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size offers two lapbelt guiders which act as load-bearing points for the lap belt. This is an improvement compared with the BeSafe iZi Up FIX.

Yes, the BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size can absolutely be used without the ISOfix installed. But when ISOfix is available, you can use the ISOfix for securing the booster seat perfectly, even without a child sitting in it.

Yes, we have designed the PAD+ so it can be perfectly installed both on left and right sides.

The second phase of UN r 129 contains different categories: the ‘i-Size booster seat’ category and the ‘specific vehicle booster seat’ category.

The ‘specific vehicle booster seat’ category allows for widths above 44 cm, so that the fit in terms of height and width depends on the vehicle and should therefore always be tried out before purchase.

Specifically for stature heights above 135 cm, the headrest of the booster seat can in some cases touch the vehicle body. This is sometimes the case with sports car models but rarely with family cars. BeSafe recommends to test-install the seat in all positions in the vehicle you intend using it in and check the installation, available space in the vehicle and position of the child to see if it is acceptable for your situation.

The ‘i-Size’ regulations are a set of child restraint seat regulations, developed by the United Nations. These are the newest, most comprehensive regulations for child seats, that are meant to make it easier and safer to buy the correct car seat for your child. The i-Size regulations are stricter than older regulations, and are also designed to make it easier for consumers to find a car seat that will fit in their cars.

The child should be secured in a booster seat for as long as possible, until their height reaches 150 cm. Please also check the official traffic regulations in your country, since some countries limit the usage up to 135 cm in height and some countries demand usage until a height of 150 cm.

The PAD+ is installed around the vehicle´s shoulderbelt, as high as possible – so it touches the headrest.

The PAD+ is an additional feature to improve comfort and safety, and should always be used with the iZi Flex FIX i-Size. One PAD+ is comes with the seat, and must be positioned on the vehicle´s shoulder belt. Comfort is improved by positioning a soft pad between the neck and the sharp edge of the shoulder belt. Safety is improved by positioning a soft pad between the chin and the chest to ‘soften’ the impact of the chin on the chest during a frontal impact. If you move the iZi Flex FIX i-Size from one vehicle to another, or from one side of the car to the other, you must also move the PAD+ with the seat.

BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size is constructed to offer optimal side impact performance by offering energy absortion through a combination of EPS foam, SIP bumpers and SIP+. The construction doesn’t need any SIR to perform in an optimal way in the side impact.

In the UN r129 (‘i-Size’) regulations, the classification of car seats has changed from kilograms to centimetres, since parents often know more accurately how tall their child is. This makes it easier to choose the right (and safest) seat. The iZi Flex FIX i-Size is designed to secure a child in a great way through the entire height range, independent from the ISOfix related weight limitation.

The shape of the PAD+ is carefully designed for the child’s safety and comfort. Comfort is improved by positioning a soft pad between the neck and the sharp edge of the shoulder belt. Safety is improved by positioning a soft pad between the chin and the chest to ‘soften’ the impact of the chin on the chest during a frontal impact.

The PAD+ is a part of the safety system of the booster seat, and should always be used as an ‘integrated’ part of the BeSafe iZi Flex FIX i-Size. Without the PAD+, the safety performance will be lessened.

BeSafe iZi Flex S FIX i-Size

This seat can be used from approximately 4 years to approximately 12 years.
However, please note that this is just an average value and does not limit or guarantee the usage time.
This seat may only be used when the minimum weight limit is reached, but in addition we recommend to use booster seats earliest when the child is at least 4 years old and is mature enough to calmly sit in the seat without playing with the vehicle belt or leaning out of the seat’s protection zone.
You must stop using this seat if the weight limit is reached or when when your child’s shoulders come into conflict with the integrated headrest when it is in its highest position.

This seat can be used from 15 to 36 kg.

Based on its approval, this seat only has weight limitations and no height limitations. But as it is the same construction as the iZi Flex FIX i-Size that is approved from 100-150cm, this seat fits children for the same height range.

Yes, the SIP bumpers can be detached from this seat, allowing you to fit up to three people in one row. When installing this seat on an outer vehicle seat, you can take the inner SIP bumper off in order to be able to fit several seats/people next to each other. When installing the seat in the middle position in the vehicle, both SIP bumpers can be taken off if you would like to place other seats/people next to the it on both sides. When installing this seat in the middle position in the vehicle but are only placing another seat/person next to it on one side, we recommend you to keep the other SIP bumper on the seat.

The PAD+ and SIP+ are together available as an accessory package for the iZi Flex S FIX and can be purchased at BeSafe retailers.

iZi Flex S FIX is a slightly scaled down version of the premium iZi Flex FIX i-Size that was launched in March 2018. iZi Flex FIX i-Size has 4 features that iZi Flex S FIX does not have: the SIP+, PAD+, adjustable recline positions and the lapbelt guider. All other aspects, e.g. the space-adjustability or the seat dimensions, are identical between both seats.

When the child grows and changes from car seat with internal harness to a booster seat combined with the vehicle belt, the five-point belt changes to a three-point belt, and the freedom of movement becomes significantly greater. This often leads to the child moving more in the seat and therefore the risk of incorrect vehicle belt position increases, impacting the child’s safety.

For the iZi Flex FIX i-Size, BeSafe has developed a new innovation – the lapbelt guider. The idea comes directly from the BeSafe pregnant belt. The lapbelt guider simply helps positioning the child correctly in the seat and ensures that the belt is properly positioned over the child’s pelvic bones.

To open the lapbelt guider’s fid-lock magnet, pull the upper flap downwards. To close the lapbelt guider, simply let both ends of the fid-lock magnet snap into each other.

BeSafe iZi Go Modular X1

Yes, the Child Seat Cover can be used on top of, or below the new body hugger.

Yes, the body hugger can be washed. Please check the washing instructions on your child car seat.

Our recommendation is to remove the body hugger when the child is approx. 2 years old, but for some children, it can also be removed earlier or can stay in for longer. If you are unsure if you should continue using the body hugger, we recommend you to have your child sit in the seat with and without, and compare in which variant there is a better fit of the internal harness over the child’s body.

The new body hugger is even softer and with special foam inserts to give especially smaller children more support and an even more comfortable sitting position.

BeSafe iZi Modular X1

The slide-on construction of the SIP+ has no impact on its safety function. This new construction helps with attaching and keeping the SIP+ in place, and makes it easy to always have it at the right height.

Compared to its predecessor, this seat has been upgraded with 3 new features:
1. The Dynamic Force Absorber™ in the headrest takes side impact protection to a new level
2. The additional side impact protection SIP+ is now designed with a slide-on construction for quickly and securely attaching it to the seat
3. The Ergo-Move Shoulder Pads™ are developed based on insights from the back-development experts AGR and give the child added movement space for the arms

This seat fits onto the iZi Modular i-Size base. There are no changes done to the base itself, so that all versions of this seat fit onto the same base.

Yes, the SIP+ with the slide-on construction will be available as a spare part and can be used on the iZi Modular toddler seats and BeSafe rotation seats that have the rib on the side panel of the seat shell.

Besafe recommendations

Children are significantly more flexible than adults, so just because something might look uncomfortable to us adults does not mean that it is uncomfortable for children.

In fact, many children find it more comfortable in rear facing seats, as they can rest their legs against the back of the vehicle seat. When sitting forward facing, the child’s legs would be dangling down, resulting in strain on the joints and bones.

Similarly, imagine sitting on a bar chair without putting your feet on the foot support but having your legs dangling – this typically also becomes uncomfortable for adults after a while.

It is five times safer to sit in a rear facing position than in a forward facing position and we recommend that your child sits in the absolute safest position – in a rear facing child car seat – as long as possible.

This depends on a country’s own traffic regulations, the majority of European countries require securing children in child car seats up to a stature height of 135 cm, yet some countries demand usage up to 150 cm or sometimes until the age of 12. Please check your country’s regulations for this.

We at BeSafe recommend you to secure your child in a high back booster seat for as long as possible – until a stature height of 150 cm, even if not demanded by local legislation. A high back booster seat offers children important side impact protection and aids an optimal positioning of the vehicle’s lapbelt and shoulderbelt.

Consumer tests are only intended to help the consumer make the right choice. It is important to take into consideration your own requirements and usage when selecting a child seat.

Look for ECE R44-04 approved child car seats.

We know that as a customer it is important for you to receive advice and guidance on buying a child seat, not simply to identify the most appropriate seat but also to receive guidance in the correct use of the seat. The correct use of the seat is vital to safety.

Locate your nearest dealer on our dealer pages.

This has been proven after many years of testing. Read more about this in the separate chapter on rear-facing child seats.

A seat that has been involved in an accident must not be used again.  In the event of an accident, the seat’s components may weaken, thus compromising safety.

When you visit your dealer, it is important that you receive proper advice. A child seat that has been incorrectly installed can have fatal consequences. You should therefore visit your dealer and read the user guide carefully. The user guide may be found on the product pages.

Carry out research before you visit any shops. Read a little about the various groups of car seats and try to identify your own needs.

Never be tempted into saving money by purchasing a used product. A used seat may offer a poor level of safety, either due to wear and tear or involvement in an accident. A used seat may compromise safety as it is not possible to know what type of treatment it has been subject to. Think of safety before cost.

An active airbag in front of a child seat may have fatal consequences.

A mirror for rear-facing car seats ensures better contact with your child and a car seat cover and activity cover protect the car’s interior.

Child Car Safety

Only front airbags are hazardous to child car seats, as they are thrust into the passenger compartment. All types of side airbags and side curtain airbags are restricted from entering the passenger compartment and therefore do not negatively affect the child car seat. Thus, they should stay activated.

A loose internal harness can be extremely dangerous, particularly with forward-facing seats. The harness must be securely tightened and a belt guard may be used to hold the harness together, where necessary.

After a rear-facing child seat has been installed, slide the front seat back so that it makes contact with the child seat, in order to prevent the child seat from striking the front seat in the event of a collision. If it is not possible to make contact between the front seat and the child seat, the minimum distance should be 25 cm.

ISOfix is a system for fitting child seats in cars. The system comprises two rigid metal anchor points located in the gap between the back and sitting section of the car seat. Child seats with ISOfix contain two ISOfix arms that slot into these metal anchor points. The child seat also has a third point of support, usually in the form of a support leg that rests against the car floor.

Child seats with ISOfix are generally very easy to install, significantly minimizing the risk of incorrect use. Experience would suggest that a high proportion of traditional child seats are incorrectly installed and an incorrectly installed child seat can create a false sense of security. The ISOfix system offers a heightened level of safety as the risk of a child seat being incorrectly installed is minimal.

Once it has been installed, the angle of the child seat varies according to its angle and shape. It is generally advisable for the child to be sitting as upright as possible in the event of a collision (because the collision forces are then dissipated more evenly throughout the body).

However, if the child is sitting too upright, its head will roll forwards. This problem may be resolved by installing the seat so tightly that some of the air in the padding – and thus, the improper angle/shape – is removed: Remove the locking bolt on the support leg. Place one hand on top of the seat and press firmly so that the support leg is shortened by a notch or two. Tighten with a ratchet (and anchor belts, if it is a belt-installed seat) so that the support leg is resting firmly on the floor and the seat is completely rigid. Replace the locking bolt. Start the installation from scratch, if necessary.

Children are considerably more soft and pliable than adults and do not experience discomfort while sitting with their legs bent. The most important thing is to protect the child’s head and neck. A child should therefore sit rear-facing for as long as possible.

The internal harness should be as tight as possible and no more than two fingers should fit between the child’s body and the internal harness. It is vital that the internal harness is as tight as possible, particularly with forward-facing child car seats.

In some cars, the Isofix brackets are fitted very deep. In such cases, it may be advantageous to hold the base at an angle of around 45 degrees as it slots in. This will provide better access to the brackets. It should be noted that Isofix brackets that have been fitted deeply may give the base an improper angle. In extreme cases, it may be better to install the seat without the base.

Thick winter clothes should not be worn under the harness. In case of an impact, the textile will be compressed causing a distance between the harness and the body. This means that the harness won’t have a good grip on the child, which could be dangerous especially on forward facing seats.

I-Size Regulations

The second phase of UN R129 contains different categories: the ‘i-Size booster seat’ category and the ‘specific vehicle booster seat’ category.

The ‘i-Size booster seat’ category ensures you that a booster seat in this category fits in all positions in a vehicle that have an i-Size marking themselves for a child’s stature height up to 135 cm. Additionally, it allows for a maximum width of 44 cm for the booster seat and requires stowable ISOfix connector arms, so that the booster seat can be installed both with and without ISOfix.

When the vehicle seat is marked with an i-size label you can use any i-size marked child safety seat on this vehicle seat. When the vehicle seat is marked with an isofix label, you have to check the car list of the i-size child safety seat if the specific vehicle (seat position) is mentioned in this list. If yes, then you use the child safety seat. If not, consult BeSafe

The maximum weight of child safety seat and child in i-size is 33 kg. The child safety seat will be marked with the max. weight for the child (which is max. 33 kg. – the weight of the child safety seat). The maximum weight of the child is including clothes and shoes.

No, it’s mandatory for i-size child safety seat only and will be communicated by the Rear facing label on all forward facing and convertible i-size child safety seat. As long as ECE r44 04 seat are allowed to use, it will not be mandatory to transport your child rear facing till 15 months.

As long as ECE R44 04 is allowed by National legislation you can use both ECE r 44 04 and i-size products in your car. This will be at least till 2017. ECE r44 04 products with isofix do have a car list to explain in which vehicle (seat position) the child safety seat can be used.

I-size offers a more complete and up to date set of safety criteria, which gives a better guarantee that i-size child safety seat are safe. (For example: side impact criteria, measurement of head acceleration). The safety level of ECE r44 04 child safety seat can be at the same level when these criteria (amongst them: side impact protection) have been taken into account with the design of these seats. To comply with i-size the child safety seat have to offer for example also long floor supports and special labels BeSafe child safety seat have been designed with side impact protection and to a high safety level and do offer a comparable safety level to i-size child safety seat.

No, you can use ECE r44 04 seats as long as the National legislation will allow this, which will be at least till 2017 and depending on National legislation of each country. So for many years ECE r44 04 child safety seat and i-size child safety seat will be both available and are allowed to be used (at least till 2017).

If not, consult BeSafe.

In i-size it is mandatory to transport the child rear facing till 15 months. A child safety seat has to facilitate a stature height till 83 cm. which is representative for 15 months. A child safety seat with stature height of min. 83 cm. guarantees the usage till 15 months. When a child safety seat offers only a max. stature height of 75 cm. (very normal for an infant seat), the parent has to use another rear facing child safety seat which offers a stature height till at least 83 cm.

No the stature height range can be defined by the child safety seat manufacturer. The range is defined by the inside dimensions of the child safety seat and the dummies which are used to test the child safety seat. The stature height limit of 105 cm. will be used a lot in practice, since this is the upper stature height which is tested with a Q3 dummy.

As long as ECE R44 04 is allowed by National legislation you can use both ECE r 44 04 and i-size products in your car. This will be at least till 2017. ECE r44 04 products with isofix do have a car list to explain in which vehicle (seat position) the child safety seat can be used.

In i-size it is mandatory to transport the child rear facing till 15 months. So you have to purchase a rear facing child safety seat to facilitate till at least 15 months (so min. 83 cm.) stature height.

iZi Plus X1

When a rear facing child car seat is in touch with the car interior, it will be supported by the car interior during an impact, which gives an optimal crash performance. When this is not feasible, it’s best to create significant distance between the interior and the child car seat to avoid an impact with the car interior when the child car seat will move during the crash. However, please note that these are recommendations for the ideal positions. If these cannot be achieved in your car, it is also fine to install it with getting as close to the ideal positions as possible.

Besides its three in-built recline positions, iZi Plus X1 also features the special installation method of partially hovering. With this method, the end of the seat’s base that is at the front brace can hover a bit above the vehicle seat, allowing to counter-balance sloping vehicle seats. Important for this installation method is:

– The other end of the base that is towards the support leg has to rest on the vehicle seat. The child seat is not allowed to hover completely

– The support leg has to have a minimum 90 degree angle towards the vehicle floor or should be pointing slightly towards the seat in front. The support leg must never be pointing towards the vehicle seat that the child seat is on

– The front brace (‘anti-rotation bar’) must be pushed firmly into the backrest of the vehicle seat, so that the child car seat does not move when being pushed.

The BeSafe iZi Plus X1 can be used up to max. 25 kg. There is no minimum weight requirement.

iZi Plus X1 is approved to ECE R44-04, which only has weight limitations. From a practical perspective, it is recommended to start using BeSafe iZi Plus X1 when the child can sit by himself/herself, which is typically around 6 months. Sometimes, children can already start using the seat earlier, but please consult with your local retailer face to face for this.

The end of the usage time is reached if the child has reached 25 kg, if the child’s shoulders don’t fit underneath the headrest in its highest setting, or if the top of the ears are at the top end of the headrest.

SIP+ is an additional safety feature that is placed on the side of the BeSafe child car seat. It is constructed to absorb energy and reduces the load on the child’s neck and head in two ways: First, SIP+ reduces the distance between the seat and the door, thus shortening the movement in a side impact, resulting in less force on the child. Second, SIP+ functions like a car’s crumple zone and absorbs energy.

The weight of the child car seat is +/- 12 kg.

D x W x H: 65 x 45 x 56 cm

iZi Plus X1 is approved up to 25 kg, which means approx. 5 years based on average values. However, please note that this is just an average value and does not limit or guarantee the usage time. iZi Plus X1 must not be used anymore if the child has reached 25 kg, if the child’s shoulders don’t fit underneath the headrest in its highest setting, or if the top of the ears are at the top end of the headrest.
